My Story – Part III: Acceptance

I was on a corporate road trip as usual, when everything changed in an instant. The car in which I was traveling with my father and our COO was hit without warning, smashed by three trucks and burst into flames. I remember every single instant while praying.  God had gloriously saved me. There was a shard of metal hovering above me, and just in front of my face I glanced the wheel of a truck that stood suspended just centimeters away. It was a miracle that I did not die that day. I also felt that I had been given a second chance, a renewed lease on life and that I should not waste it on pursuits that failed to fill my life…with life. I realized I had to aim at what fulfills my heart’s desires, clear my path of obstacles to happiness, and live to love whatever I do. By the time I was well enough to resume a normal routine after rehabilitation, I knew that PorzeLLLan was my future. I had to give it the energy it deserved. I wanted to do something in the world that felt worthwhile. Most of all, I wanted to be deserving of the chance that I had been given.

 

My eyes had been opened, my mind was clear, and I would never again doubt that I was on the right path. Not everyone has been through so harrowing an experience but I think we all can relate to that voice inside ourselves that holds us accountable and keeps us honest. The voice that tells us we have to do what we were meant to do, and that we must learn to face our fears if we are to seize the moment on behalf of our hopes. This is why PorzeLLLan has been a personal and spiritual journey for me, one that has inspired me to be a co-creator of objects that capture beauty, love, and desire in unique forms. And it is an inspiration which I am devoted to sharing with you, because it is, like life, too rare a thing to be taken for granted.
